Satyam Computer worst hit from Sensex pack

The BSE Sensex had fallen like a pack of cards for the second
consecutive day today, 17 August 2007.

The 30-share BSE Sensex was down 428.79 points or 2.92% to 13938.39 at
12:45 IST due to panic selling on reports of a steep fall in Japan's
benchmark index Nikkei.

The Nikkei 225 Stock Average had its biggest decline since September
2001 and dropped 874.81 points, or 5.4%, to 15,273.68. The Japanese
shares were hampered as a stronger yen hit exporters.

The stock from the Sensex pack hit the most were - Satyam Computers
(down by 8.25% to Rs 428.80), Tata Steel (down 7.01% to Rs 535),
Maruti Udyog (down 7.46% to Rs 734), and NTPC lost 5.36% to Rs 159.

The Sensex had recorded its second-biggest fall yesterday by settling
642 points lower at 14358.21.

The Asian stock markets suffered another drubbing on Friday, 17 August
2007, gyrating lower as panicky investors continued to dump shares
with no end in sight to the recent turmoil on global markets.

The BSE Sensex had hit all time high of 15868.85 on 24 July 2007. It
had hit 52-week low of 1197.23 on 24 August 2006.

The Sensex had fallen 6.16% in the past one month to 16 August 2007.
It gained 0.38% in the past three months.
