Satyam unveils web-based services for SMEs

Hyderabad-based IT and consulting company, Satyam Computer Services, today said it was all set to launch the next generation enterprise applications delivery model -- software as a service (SaaS) - for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

SaaS brings several advantages to SMEs, such as low up-front investment, predictable maintenance costs, lower customisation, leaner IS staff and scalable service level among other things, according to the company.

Satyam is partnering Nasscom and the Federation of Andhra Pradesh Small Industries Associations (Fapsia) in the initiative to promote IT adoption among SMEs in Hyderabad.

MindTree Consulting acquires Purple Vision

Leading ASIC and IC design Service provider, MindTree Consulting today announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire 100% of the equity in TES-PV Electronic Solutions (Purple Vision), the India-based, fully-owned subsidiary of TES Electronic Solutions SA.

MindTree will acquire Purple Vision in an all-cash deal of $ 6.55 million, and expects to expects to close the deal in 4-6 weeks.  The transaction will become effective upon completion of certain closing conditions, as is customary in such circumstances.

Purple Vision is a 150-person subsidiary of TES Electronic Solutions, providing differentiated services in the IC Design area.

Tech Mahindra plans Rs 200cr Chandigarh centre

IT services vendor Tech Mahindra has announced the setting up of a state-of-the-art software development centre in Chandigarh at an initial estimated cost of Rs 200 crore.

According to an official release issued by the company to the BSE today, the integrated north campus at the Rajiv Gandhi Technology Park will be built on 15 acres of land. It will seat 2,500 professionals in the first phase, and 5,000 when fully complete. The center would have video conferencing facilities, training centres, food courts, an amphitheatre, recreation facilities, a swimming pool, a gymnasium and a sports complex.

NIIT ties up with US firm for math labs

NIIT, a global talent development corporation, has announced a strategic alliance with US-based Key Curriculum Press, to introduce 'Mathematics Laboratories' in Indian schools.

'Math Lab' will enable school students to learn and explore mathematical concepts and verify mathematical facts and theorems using technology tools such as 'The Geometer's Sketchpad', together with hands-on activities using a wide variety of mathematical models.
